Here’s how the story goes… first of all, I met this guy on Tinder. Even though his profile threw up about five of my red flags (no profile picture because of “work” was just one), but there was something about his profile which attracted me. He wrote in his bio that he was a busy professional looking to meet beautiful people from all over the world and that he worked in the business of professional sports. I swiped right and lo and behold, we matched. He said he was actually from another state but visited Adelaide regularly for work. I was initially a bit stand-offish with him while we were messaging because I thought there was no way I would actually meet him in person. I have met so many men who say these type of things and they end up disappearing into the void. But, he said he is coming to Adelaide the next week for a few days and would love to meet me. I am still thinking, “yeah, I probably will bail on me at the last minute” even though we set a night I would be available. He proved me wrong. We set a day and he said he would message me to confirm a time. To my surprise, he messaged me with the time he will be available. He sends me the name of the hotel he was staying at and told me to message him when I was downstairs.
I made myself look cute, but not too cute because I have been in the embarrassing situation where I have been stood up, even when I have arrived at the meeting place, at the appointed time, way too many times. Now, I make a little effort but I am not going all out for a complete stranger. That way, if I get stood up, I can easily go somewhere else and not look like I was meant to be on a date. Be prepared is my motto.
So remember, I don’t have any idea what this guy looks like. Which is always a gamble for me, because if I am not attracted to the person’s face, I get completely turned off and my vagina gets drier than the Sahara desert. I am fickle like that; I know what I like. So I arrive at his hotel and I message him to say I am downstairs. He replies: “I will be down in a sec.” So far so good. I prayed he would be attractive and I haven’t come all this way for another disappointment…
He comes into the foyer and his face isn’t absolutely perfect but it is not bad either. He has a rugged, confident look about him. He is bearded which can turn me off, but his facial hair is well kept and fairly short. He is tall and broad, classically built Australian man, basically looking like a surfer. I already can smell how delicious he is and my mouth starts to water.
He asks if I want to go for a drink, as we are in a very busy area of Adelaide with lots of places very close by. But I tell him I don’t drink alcohol (which is true) but at this point I have decided I mean business. He says, “shall we go upstairs then?” Agreed. We go upstairs in the lift and have a little chit chat before going into his room.
The room is all dimly lit and moody with some romantic r’n’b playing. He has a wine glass out for me but gets me a coke instead. We chat some more and he tells me about his work and how he got into it. Basically, the guy is a pretty big deal and I fully understand why he wouldn’t put his face on his Tinder account. I am not someone in the know, but I get that people would recognise him and put two and two together. He is a great conversationalist; he asks some big open-ended questions for me to answer and really listens to what I am saying. While we are talking, he has his legs up on the end of the bed and they are long and muscular… I am thinking “jesus, they are long legs!” Sidenote: I am not used to tall men!
We chat a bit more and get a bit more comfortable before he stands up and says “come here.”
To be continued…
Yep that is right! To be continued in my audio story where you get to hear all the juicy details of this escapade. More details on where you can listen to that SOON!
